The Story So Far...
Lily Pins was the vision of - Business Owner & Sole Director, Jenny Twigg.
|
Jenny began her journey as a qualified hairdresser working in the salon of a local care home. Spending one day a week in the salon, Jenny took the decision to also work as a care worker, soon ecoming a key member of their Dementia Team.
Jenny's reputation quickly grew and it wasn't long before she was approached by other care homes seeking the unique combined skills that she had to offer to care establishments. Jenny began trading in 2001 as a sole trader known as 'Care 4 Hair'. The company grew organically over time; when at the beginning of 2009 Jenny found herself with a team of 6 staff working with 7 care establishments. and so the seeds of Lily Pins were sown...
In April of 2009, the company changed its brand and became 'Lily Pins Ltd' as we know it. Changes to the name, logo and website led to unbelievable media interest and enquiries from all over the UK. To accomodate the growth of the business and large number of enquiries, Jenny made the transition from residential offices to commercial offices, initiating work on improving policies and procedures to perfect the processes of running this unique company to its full potential.
Over the last 12 months Chiropody and Beauty services have been introduced into the company, with all professionals receiving the same training as Lily Pins' hairdressers. In the last year Jenny has also worked closely with business advisors and solicitors to perfect the 'Franchise Model' and comprehensive operations manual. After a lot of hard work Lily Pins was excited to sell the first Franchise in June 2011.

Jenny says "I had never experienced such job satisfaction, the feedback and gratitude I got from the families of my clients was immense. They were absolutely delighted to find out that I was not only caring for their Mum/Dad but also 'the lady' doing hair. I was then determind to fulfil my dream by combining my two passions; Hairdressing and working within the care industry.
"Through extensive research I discovered that being Dementia trained is not mandatory for outside service providers, such as hairdressers, beauticians and chiropodists. I passionately believe that all professionals working with this client group should have the correct training to enable them to understand, empathise and meet their needs. It's been a long, interesting and rewarding journey to achieve and maintain our high standards. I am now looking forward to spreading our wings through our new franchise outlets, extending our services throughout the UK and beyond!"
